Anne Milton, Conservative Parliamentary Candidate for Guildford, has made a pledge to the people of Guildford that if the Conservatives win the General Election the Government’s plans to build on the Green Belt near Guildford will be scrapped. The South East Plan calls for the deletion of the Merrow-Burpham Green Belt and an "urban extension" of 2,000 buildings being dumped on the green fields of Gosden Hill Farm.
Anne said: “The Government’s plans to build on the Green Belt in Guildford are both poorly thought out and ill-advised. Of course we want and need more affordable housing, but we must make sure housing decisions are made locally, and that the green belt remains.”
“Over 55 per cent of all of the responses to the South East Plan Consultation were from Guildford, which shows just how important this issue is to so many people here. I call on everyone in Guildford who want to see this plan shelved to vote for change at the General Election.”
