 About Merrow
A village to the east of Guildford, Merrow was mentioned in the Domesday Book of 1086. The Grade II listed, St John's Church, on the Epsom Road dates from the 12th Century. New residential developments in the 1930s and 1950s including Bushy Hill, and the development of Merrow Park in the 1970s-80s, has transformed Merrow village into one of the largest wards in Guildford.
Despite these changes, Merrow is fortunate in being surrounded by rolling Green Belt land, Merrow Downs and farmland, adjoining the wards of Burpham, Christchurch, Clandon and Tillingborne.
Today, Merrow is a thriving community with three churches, a village hall, very well-respected schools, a good range of local shops and many voluntary societies. (inset picture: Merrow Downs).
